VICHY

Vichy, located in the heart of France just 3 hours south of Paris by rail, offers 25 years of teaching experience. The programs are integrated into contemporary French life and contacts with the population are an essential part of the courses. In addition to the hours of study each week, the community of Vichy offers a high level of sports and cultural activities. The French Government diplomas, DELF and DALF, for foreign students are given for approved work.

THE SCHOOL

Cavilam is located in exceptional surroundings on the campus of the new University and Technology Centre in Vichy. Cavilam was founded in 1964 by the municipality of Vichy and the two Universities of Clermont-Ferrand which are responsible for supervising the teaching and also take part in setting up programs. Cavilam is also an internationally renowned centre for research and as such contributes to new developments in the field of teaching languages. The building is situated in the centre of town, in a park beside the river. Students will find at their disposal: 30 classrooms, a lecture hall, 2 large multi-purpose rooms, a multi-media research centre and 4 multi-media laboratories.

THE STAFF

All the teachers have university diplomas. They teach their mother tongue and ensure that each student receives individual attention.

LEVELS

BEGINNER Acquisition and application of elementary French language structure; grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, etc.; practice in oral communication; initiation in written French. Beginners must start on the published dates

INTERMEDIATE Class dates every Monday; further spoken and written language practice; development of basic knowledge - grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation; written and oral communication practice; study of media, audio-visual, films, etc.; written practice.

ADVANCED Class dates every Monday; study of contemporary French civilization; use of economic, social and political documents (field studies); expansion of vocabulary and grammatical knowledge; spoken expression (speeches, debates, role-play, simulation); written practice.

The registration fee of US $100 ensures a place in the class. This fee is non-refundable but is flexible for use on future dates should your plans change for any reason.
